AWS Class ENiFe-CI Coated Electrodes have a composition of 55–60% Nickel (Ni), 40–45% Iron (Fe), and trace amounts of Carbon (≤0.15%), Manganese (≤1.0%), and Silicon (≤1.0%). The high tensile strength is around 480–600 MPa, the yield strength is about 350 MPa, while elongation is between 12–18%. These electrodes also provide a melting point of more than 1400°C as well as a density of about 8.2 g/cm³. ENiFe-CI electrodes have very good fusion properties, high crack resistance, and good machinability following welding. They are applicable for both cold and slightly preheated welding, which reduces heat-affected zone cracking in cast iron repair.
