Copper Nickel 70/30 Bars are made up of about 70% copper and 30% nickel, with minute quantities of iron (up to 0.4%) and manganese (up to 1%) to improve corrosion resistance and hardenability. The bars possess good mechanical characteristics, such as tensile strength of about 520 MPa, yield strength of 150 MPa, and elongation of 30%. The physical characteristics are 8.94 g/cm³ density, 1170°C melting point, and 29 W/m·K thermal conductivity. These characteristics qualify Copper Nickel 70/30 for usage in high-stress conditions exposed to seawater and aggressive chemicals.
