Kovar Sheets and Plates are mainly made up of Nickel (29.0%), Cobalt (17.0%), and Iron (balance), with minor additions of Manganese (0.5%), Silicon (0.2%), and Carbon (0.02%). The materials have a controlled coefficient of thermal expansion (about 5.0 ppm/°C between 20–200°C) and are suitable for sealing against glass and ceramics. The mechanical properties of Kovar include a tensile strength of about 520 MPa and yield strength of about 415 MPa with elongation of about 25%. Its density is 8.36 g/cm³, and it possesses very good dimensional stability and thermal conductivity, which are crucial for accurate electronic components.
