Kovar Foil consists of Iron (balance), Nickel (29.0%), and Cobalt (17.0%) along with trace amounts of Manganese (0.5%), Silicon (0.2%), and Carbon (0.02%). It possesses a controlled thermal coefficient of expansion (~5.0 ppm/°C from 20°C to 200°C), well-suited to glass and ceramic matching materials. The foil has a tensile strength of around 520 MPa, yield strength of 415 MPa, and elongation of 25%. Its density is 8.36 g/cm³ with a melting point of approximately 1450°C. Kovar has high dimensional stability and electrical conductivity and so is ideal for fine, high-precision uses.
