Nitinol Shape Memory Tubes mostly consist of almost equal proportions of nickel and titanium in the form of 55–56% nickel and 44–45% titanium. Such specific content allows the alloy to display shape memory as well as superelasticity. Mechanically, Nitinol tubes are extremely fatigue-resistant with tensile strengths of 750–1000 MPa, and elongation of up to 10–15%. They are physically very dense, at around 6.45 g/cm³, and undergo phase transformation from martensite to austenite, usually close to body temperature. These make the tubes self-recoverable to their initial shape upon deformation when subjected to a certain range of temperatures.
