Tantalum Shim consists of ≥99.9% pure tantalum with very little impurities like Oxygen (≤0.01%), Carbon (≤0.01%), Nitrogen (≤0.01%), Hydrogen (≤0.001%), and Niobium (≤0.1%). It possesses good mechanical properties such as tensile strength of 200–750 MPa and yield strength of approximately 180 MPa, with elongation of up to 30%. Physical properties of tantalum include high melting point of 3017°C, density of 16.65 g/cm³, and very good electrical and thermal conductivity. Its good properties, coupled with its high resistance to corrosion by concentrated acids, make tantalum shim appropriate for application in aggressive chemical and thermal conditions.
