Invar 42 Bar consists of Nickel (41–43%) and Iron (balance), with minor traces of Manganese (≤0.80%), Carbon (≤0.05%), Silicon (≤0.30%), and Cobalt (≤0.50%). It possesses mechanical properties like tensile strength of 480–620 MPa, yield strength of around 275 MPa, and elongation of about 25–30%. It has a low coefficient of thermal expansion of about 4.5 x 10⁻⁶/°C, density of 8.12 g/cm³, and melting point close to 1425°C. All these are strong reasons why it is good for precision applications where stability at varying temperatures is a requirement.
