Invar Bar consists mainly of Nickel (36%) and Iron (64%), with trace additions of elements such as Carbon (≤0.05%), Manganese (≤0.60%), and Silicon (≤0.40%). The alloy has a tensile strength of around 490–620 MPa, yield strength of 275 MPa, and elongation of around 30%. It possesses a very low coefficient of thermal expansion (approximately 1.2 x 10⁻⁶/°C), 8.1 g/cm³ density, and a melting point near 1430°C.
