Haynes 188 Bars are cobalt-nickel-chromium-tungsten alloys with a chemical composition of roughly Cobalt 38–42%, Nickel 22–26%, Chromium 21–25%, Tungsten 13–16%, Iron up to 3%, Lanthanum 0.02–0.12%, and Carbon 0.05–0.15%. These bars possess superior mechanical properties, such as tensile strength of 895 MPa, yield strength of 485 MPa, and elongation of 35%. Physical properties are a density of 9.14 g/cm³, melting range of 1295–1380°C, and superior resistance to oxidation, thermal fatigue, and high-temperature strength, and hence can be used in harsh environments.
