Hastelloy W Wire consists mostly of Nickel (65% min), Molybdenum (25.0–30.0%), Iron (4.0–6.0%), Chromium (5.5–7.0%), and trace amounts of Cobalt (2.5% max), Carbon (0.02% max), and Silicon (0.2% max). The wire has very good mechanical properties with about 690 MPa tensile strength and 310 MPa yield strength. It has high elongation (40%) and a melting range of about 1320–1370°C. The alloy has very good resistance to oxidation, thermal cycling, and high-stress conditions and is therefore applicable in such high-temperature and critical applications that demand structure and chemical stability.
