AWS Class ENi-CI Coated Electrodes are composed of a high Nickel (Ni) content generally ≥ 90%, with minute quantities of Carbon (≤0.15%), Iron (Fe ≤ 1.5%), and Manganese (Mn ≤ 1%). These electrodes create welds with very good tensile strength, typically between 400–450 MPa, and yield strength of about 250 MPa. Elongation varies from 10–25%, providing good ductility and machinability. With their melting point of about 1450°C and density of about 8.8 g/cm³, these electrodes exhibit good arc stability, low spatter, and low weld stress, and are hence apt for welding in cold and moderately preheated conditions.
