Inconel 617 is a cobalt-molybdenum-nickel-chromium alloy. Its characteristic composition consists of Ni 44.5–61%, Cr 20–24%, Co 10–15%, Mo 8–10%, trace Fe (up to 3%), Al (1–1.5%), and C (0.05–0.15%). These constituents impart excellent strength and resistance to oxidation at high temperatures. Mechanically, it possesses tensile strength of ~760 MPa, yield strength of ~350 MPa, and elongation of 30%. It has a melting point of 1320–1370°C and a density of 8.36 g/cm³. Inconel 617 is perfectly suited for severe environments with thermal cycling and hostile gases.
