Super Duplex Steel Wire contains about 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum, 0.3% nitrogen, and up to 2% manganese, with the balance consisting of iron. The chemical composition provides the alloy with excellent resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and chloride stress corrosion cracking. The wire has mechanical properties of tensile strength 800–1000 MPa, yield strength of about 550 MPa, and elongation 25%. Its physical properties are 7.8 g/cm³ in density, melting range 1350–1400°C, and thermal conductivity of 15 W/m·K, and it is therefore suitable for use in harsh environments.
