Duplex Steel Wire, usually composed of UNS S32205, has approximately 22% Chromium, 5–6.5% Nickel, 3–3.5% Molybdenum, and 0.14–0.2% Nitrogen, in addition to Manganese (≤2%), Silicon (≤1%), and Carbon (≤0.03%). The above composition offers very good mechanical strength with tensile strength of 620–880 MPa and yield strength of approximately 450 MPa. It has a density of 7.8 g/cm³ and a melting point of approximately 1350°C. Duplex Steel Wire with its ferritic-austenitic microstructure provides excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance, pitting, and crevice corrosion, which makes the wire suitable to be used under aggressive chemical environments and marine exposures.
