Duplex Steel Valves have a typical composition of 22–25% Chromium, 4.5–6.5% Nickel, and 3–5% Molybdenum with the remainder Iron. Trace amounts of Nitrogen (0.1–0.25%), Manganese (≤2%), and Carbon (≤0.03%) are also present. Such a composition helps improve the resistance of the material to corrosion in chloride media. The mechanical characteristics are a tensile strength ranging from 620–850 MPa, yield strength between 450–550 MPa, and elongation of approximately 25%. Duplex steel valves are highly resistant to pitting and stress corrosion cracking. The density is around 7.8 g/cm³, and they possess high fatigue strength.
