Monel Valves consist mainly of Nickel (63% min) and Copper (28–34%), with small additions of Iron (2.5%), Manganese (2%), Silicon (0.5%), and Carbon (0.3%). The composition provides superior resistance to corrosion, particularly in seawater and acidic conditions. Monel possesses tensile strength of around 550 MPa, yield strength of 240 MPa, and elongation of over 35%. Its density is 8.8 g/cm³, and its melting point is in the range 1300°C to 1350°C. These characteristics make Monel valves extremely resilient, pressure-tolerant, and apt for strenuous industrial operations.
